Outdrive & lower unit service

The gearcase lives underwater, which is exactly why it gets ignored — until milky gear oil, a whine under load, or a shredded bellows makes it impossible to ignore. Lower unit and outdrive failures are among the most expensive on a boat, and nearly all of them start small and cheap.

What we service

Lower units on outboards: gear oil service, pressure testing, seal replacement, water pump and impeller service, prop shaft seals, and full teardown when water intrusion or metal in the oil says it is time. Sterndrives (MerCruiser, Volvo Penta): bellows, gimbal bearings, u-joints, shift cables, trim systems, and alignment.

The milky oil rule

If your gear oil ever comes out looking like coffee with cream, stop running the boat. That is water, and water in a gearcase eats bearings fast. Caught early it is often just seals; run all season it becomes a new gearcase. This single check — done every service — is the cheapest insurance in boating.

Salt water is not optional down here

Broward County boats live in brackish and salt water year-round. Anodes, bellows, and seals age on a South Florida schedule, not the calendar in the owner's manual. If the boat sits in the water, the outdrive needs eyes on it every year without exception.
